The Making of CRTVCHURCH

From isolation, community is born.

The Making of CRTVCHURCH

The CRTVCHURCH Story

October 28, 2015, we launched CRTVCHURCH.

It seems simple now, but back then it was difficult.

STORYTIME

Six months before CRTVCHURCH’s launch, my wife, Lydia, and I went through some significant changes, we were living in a new city and the church we moved to work for closed after us only being on staff for six months. I speak for both Lydia and myself when I say we felt like failures.

It was a huge blow to see something we were so passionate about shut down. The friendships we had with the pastors and leadership deteriorated, and we were all alone. I think in our so-called failure, we pushed others away.

We will never forget that pain of being isolated.

When we started CRTVCHURCH, it was to pull ourselves out of a rut that we were in and shake off the bitter attitude that had made its way into our lives.

We wanted to help others again.

We know what it’s like to feel alone. We know what it’s like to work hard and have people overlook you. We know what it’s like to be treated poorly by others, we know what it’s like to have something you’re passionate about crushed. We know what it is like to feel like you’ll never amount to anything ever again; that the calling of God is somehow gone.

And while those days are hopefully few and far between, we know a day will come when you will need others who know what it’s like.

That’s what we built CRTVCHURCH for; to bring creatives together. So, that we could inspire, create connections, help one another, and be there for each other.

OUR PURPOSE

Over the past few years, we’ve begun to discover the God dream for CRTVCHURCH. Over this time we’ve realized that this is more than a hashtag. We are more than an Instagram account. We are more than a place for inspiration. CRTVCHURCH is called to solve the disconnect between local churches within the capital church by bringing creatives together.

CRTVCHURCH equals community.

SO, WHY CREATIVES

In the past decade, creatives have been the leaders of major cultural and environmental shifts in our churches.

Together, we are seeing more people come to know Christ through the creative arts. We believe creatives are a catalyst for change and we are called to more than to just make things look good. If we want to see a more collaborative capital church, a global church that is working together, then we feel it starts with us, the creatives.
